The Passion

2022 Passion workshop flyerTHE GATTON PASSION 2020 – PERFORMERS WANTED
Gatton Community Theatre is a unique Christian community theatre company, based in the parishes of Merstham & Gatton on the North Downs above Reigate.  It is also one of Surrey’s most unusual and innovative theatre groups.   Many of its members come from churches of all denominations in the Reigate area and beyond.  Originally planned to celebrate GCT’s  20th anniversary with this production, but now two years behind schedule because of Covid, it hopes to be able to stage an exciting open-air promenade production of The Passion in the Capability Brown designed grounds of Gatton Park, Reigate, in July this year.  Gatton Park is home to the Royal Alexandra & Albert School and its beautiful grounds are maintained by volunteers from The Gatton Trust.
The theatre company is thrilled that Bishop Christopher has once agreed to be Patron for this production.
There are opportunities to be part of the production either on stage or behind the scenes.
No formal auditions are required, instead anyone interested in joining in is invited to come to drama workshops and to meet the team on Saturday 6th and/or Sunday 7th March at 2.30pm at All Saints Church, Battlebridge Lane, South Merstham.
Anyone, regardless of experience or ability, who would like to be involved will be able to take part. GCT operates an inclusive policy – people of any age, adults and children from about 8 years upwards, would be most welcome to come along and see if they would like to take part; In the past our cast has ranged in age from 7 to 85 years!
Written by Anna Thompson (daughter of the late Bishop of Bath & Wells, Jim Thompson) and directed by Libby Egwuba, The Passion follows the story of Jesus and his ministry, staged at various stunning locations in Gatton Park, concluding with the events of Holy Week, the Crucifixion and Resurrection.  Audiences are invited to join this journey, both physically and emotionally, as they travel together with the cast through Gatton Park as followers of Jesus and become involved in the events unfolding before them.  Through this production of The PassionGCT hopes to bring to life the familiar story on which our shared faith is based and which it is hoped will involve, engage and inspire as many people as possible.
If you cannot make the workshop dates but would be interested in being a part of the production, please email  Rehearsals begin after Easter.  The production dates are Thursday 14th - Sunday 17thand Wednesday 20th - Saturday 23rd  July,  all at 8.00pm. Tickets will be on sale from May/June onwards via our GCT website, so why not plan to come along - maybe even organise a trip for your church group for a summer evening in a glorious location.
